Complainant Name:
Mr Ian Haycox

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sun

Mr Ian Haycox of Perton who owned a house that had formerly belonged to the Foster family complained that an article about the death of the family had incorrectly claimed that he had said that he had received visits from bailiffs looking for Mr Foster. In fact, no bailiffs or creditors had ever visited his home.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following letter from the complainant:

Further to your article following the death of the Foster family (Aug 30) I would like to make clear that after a doorstep interview, I was wrongly quoted as saying I had been pestered by and received visits to my property by bailiffs looking for Mr Foster. I had no such visits and this false suggestion has been upsetting for friends and relatives who deserve to hear accurate accounts of what has been said.
