Complainant Name:
Pineta Park Hotel (Marmaris, Turkey)

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Complaint:

Mehmet Ayhan, Vice President of the Pineta Park Hotel in Marmaris, Turkey, complained that an article which reported the comments of a couple who stayed at the hotel – recounting an incident between a waiter and their son – contained inaccuracies.

Resolution:

The newspaper explained that it had obtained comments from the travel company prior to publishing the couple’s account. However, it was happy to publish the following clarification setting out the hotel’s position on the incident:

An article on 19 August repeated a family’s claim that their son had a knife held to his throat at the Pineta Park Hotel Marmaris, Turkey.

A hotel spokesman has asked us to point out that the matter had been investigated and they had found no evidence of violence being used.

A Turkish Police spokesman confirmed that they received no complaint from the family.

The newspaper also removed the online article. The complaint was resolved on this basis.
