Complainant Name:
The Rt Hon Jack McConnell MSP

Clauses Noted: 9

Publication: Scottish Daily Express

The Rt Hon Jack McConnell MSP complained that he had been unnecessarily referred to in an article about his brother-in-law, who had been found guilty of breaching the peace and acting in a disorderly manner. He said that he was not relevant to the story and had not consented to being identified in the piece and that there was, therefore, a breach of Clause 9 (Reporting of crime) of the Code.

The newspaper assured the complainant that its journalists had been informed of his concerns and reminded of their responsibilities. Its internal electronic archive had been marked with a legal warning.

Report: 77
