Complainant Name:
Friend & Falcke Estate Agents

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Evening Standard

Mr Simon Albertini, Managing Director of Friend & Falcke estate agents, complained that an article about the housing market which made direct reference to the company and quoted him contained inaccuracies.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following letter from the complainant, together with an editorial note of apology:

I would like to respond to your article of 15 August. For many estate agents, the market we are experiencing in 2008 is the most difficult we have ever encountered. Friend & Falcke has survived good markets, bad markets and downright terrible markets. I believe that the coming months will prove challenging, and that the industry will continue to see extensive casualties, but that those that accept the situation and work on a realistic business strategy will live to tell the tale. We have already taken the dramatic step of selling one and closing on of our offices (Belgravia and Fulham), retaining our original Chelsea office in Brompton Road, and the two village offices in Barnes and Clapham. The future of the business lies in successful consolidation. The most crucial element of any estate agency is the staff, not the high street presence. The market is without doubt tough but maybe the lessons learnt by those that survive it will stand the industry in good stead.

Editors note: We apologise for any misunderstanding in our original article.
