Complainant Name:
Thomas Matthew Fletcher

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sun

Thomas Matthew Fletcher of Gloucester Road, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, complained that an article which reported that a Thomas Fletcher of Tewkesbury Gloucs had been charged with having sex with a dog would have misled readers to believe that he was the defendant in the case. In fact, he had no connection to the case which concerned another teenager from the same town, with the same name.

The newspaper published the following letter from the complainant to clarify the circumstances:

Further to your report (Aug 22) about someone who shares my name, lives in the same town and is charged with having sex with a dog, I would like to make clear that I am not involved in the case in any way. I accept the Sun's apologies for the distress caused to me and my family due to this confusion.

Thomas Matthew Fletcher

Gloucester Road, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire

The complaint was resolved on this basis.
