Vikie Shanks

Clauses Noted: 5, 6

Publication: Leamington Spa Observer

Vikie Shanks of Kenilworth complained that an inquest report into her husbands suicide contained excessive information about his death which caused her and her children emotional trauma.

The newspaper acknowledged that the reporting of inquests could cause a great deal of upset and emphasised that the article did not name the complainants children or their house. The editor wrote privately to the complainant to make clear that he regretted causing her and her family any distress.

Report: 78
