Complainant Name:
Mr Stuart Nardone

Clauses Noted: 1, 3

Publication: The Times

Complaint:

Mr Stuart Nardone of Southampton complained that an article containing an interview with his ex-wife had inaccurately attributed the breakdown of their marriage to having a disabled child. He also argued that the coverage had intruded into his private life.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper wrote a letter of apology to the complainant and published the following clarification:

An article (“Desperate people do desperate things”, times2, September 25) about the difficulties faced by the parents of disabled children referred to the breakdown of Stuart Nardone’s marriage. Mr Nardone does not accept that having or caring for a disabled child had anything to do with the failure of the relationship, which he says was caused by the irreconcilable differences of opinion with his former wife. We are happy to clarify his position.
