Complaint:

Mr Christopher Main of New Milton complained that an article reporting on concern over access to a new national database had presented the conjectured claim that Parents Outloud – a campaign group – represented thousands of families as fact.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved by the publication of the following clarification:

We have been asked to make clear that Parents Outloud (“Alarm over security of children’s database”, January 27) is not a membership organisation but a campaign group; our statement that it represents thousands of families referred to the number of weekly hits on its website rather than to any membership figure. We are happy to set the record straight.
