Complainant Name:
Professor Christopher Harvie MSP

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Press Association

Professor Christopher Harvie MSP complained that a report of his contribution to a debate about broadcasting in the Scottish Parliament had reversed the order of comments he had made relating to the respective attitudes to reporting of Lord Reith and Hitler, and the evil doing of Blue Peter. This order had subsequently been repeated elsewhere.

The complaint was resolved when the organisation published the following clarification:

In SCOTLAND Broadcasting Harvie (MSP SLAMS 'EVIL' BLUE PETER IN BROADCASTING RANT) which ran at about 1756 on October 8, 2008 we stated that in a speech to the Scottish Parliament, MSP Professor Christopher Harvie spoke of the "evil doing" of Blue Peter and went on to mention Adolf Hitler and BBC founder Lord Reith.

We are happy to put Professor Harvie's comments in context by clarifying that his comments about Hitler and Lord Reith were made before his characterisation of Blue Peter.
