Complainant Name:
The Camp for Climate Action

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Evening Standard

The Camp for Climate Action complained that an article had inaccurately reported that school-run mothers driving 4x4s would be targeted by eco-protesters including those who had participated in 2007s Camp for Climate Action at Heathrow in a protest on 1 April, using tactics such as deflating tyres. While it had planned to place tickets on parked cars, the organisation made clear that there would be no attempt to interfere with moving vehicles, as had been implied by the article.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following clarification:

Further to our article of 31 March 2008 (Eco-protesters target school-run mothers, we wish to make it clear that there is no evidence that climate-change protesters had plans to target school-run mothers, deflate tyres or cover the windscreens of moving vehicles. No such action took place on 1 April 2008.
