The Camp for Climate Action

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sun

The Camp for Climate Action complained that an article had stated inaccurately that climate change activists at the camp at Heathrow in August 2007 planned to plant hoax packages in order to bring the airport to a standstill. The complainant was concerned that, following the Press Complaints Commissionís ruling that the Evening Standardís coverage of these allegations raised a breach of the Code, the newspaper had failed to publish anything further on the matter.

The complaint was resolved by the publication of the following statement on the newspaperís website:

Further to the article first published on this website on 14 August 2007 regarding 2007ís Camp for Climate Action at Heathrow Airport, we are happy to make clear we had no evidence anything other than non-violent civil disobedience was being planned.
