Complainant Name:
The Camp for Climate Action

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Evening Standard

Complaint:

The Camp for Climate Action, the only group to be identified by name in the article about the forthcoming G20 protests, complained that the headline had referred misleadingly to “riots” being planned by anarchists. The group was planning a blockade and not a riot.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the online headline was amended to refer to a “demo” rather than a riot, and by the publication of the following statement:

Camp for Climate Action

Further to our article of 20 February “Anarchists plan City riots for G20 leaders’ arrival” we are happy to clarify that Camp for Climate Action were planning a demonstration and not a riot to coincide with the arrival of world leaders for the G20 summit. We apologise for any misunderstanding caused by our headline.
