Publication: Daily Mail

Mr James Gray MP complained that the newspaper had published a story, which contained the inaccurate claim that he had taken photographs of injured British soldiers while on a visit to Afghanistan.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper which indicated that the claim was phrased as such, and came from several sources published the following letter:

On my recent trip to Afghanistan (Mail), I did not take photographs of a dying soldier. My colleagues and I had been taking pictures of the C-17 cargo plane onto which some wounded soldiers were to be transferred but by the time the transfer took place we were 500 yards away in the pitch black and taking photographs would have been impossible. There is no evidence that any of the soldiers being transferred was dying. I hope your readers will be ready to accept my assurance on the matter.
