Complainant Name:
Ms Briege Slattery on behalf of Mrs Beverley Horne

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Ms Briege Slattery complained on behalf of Mrs Beverley Horne, who had been employed as a part-time lecturer at Ashwell Prison, that the newspaper had published the inaccurate allegations made by Lester Jackson - a prisoner serving life at the jail - that she had conducted a sexual relationship with him.

The complaint was resolved by the publication of a further article in the following terms:

A married teacher accused of having an affair with a prisoner while tutoring him in jail has been cleared of any wrongdoing. Beverley Horne, 35, resigned from her post at Ashwell Prison near Oakham in Rutland after convicted murderer Lester Jackson, 40, boasted of having a sexual relationship with her. A prison investigation found no evidence to support Jackson's claims and declared the matter closed.
