Complainant Name:
Mr Grant Jones

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Full House

Mr Grant Jones of Stafford, brother of Moira Jones, complained that the article had spun a fictional account around the real people and events involved in the death of his sister, in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy).

He said that the magazine had invented dialogue and had speculatively assigned thoughts and actions to his sister of which they could have no knowledge, in addition to inaccurately stating that her boyfriend had called her that evening and had wept in the witness box at the trial.

The complaint was resolved when the magazine agreed to pay £300 to The Moira Fund, a charity established in Ms Jones memory to support individuals bereaved through violent death at the hands of another.

Report: 79
