David Poole complained than an article was misleading because it reported that a woman was a first-time buyer when this was not the case.


The complaint was resolved when the newspaper explained that the woman, a relative of the journalist, was previously a sleeping partner in a buy-to-let investment and published the following in its "Corrections and clarifications" column:

An article headlined "New homeowners: ‘Falling market helped us', should have made clear, in accordance with the Guardian's editorial code, that the journalist who wrote it was related to one of the home-buyers featured (26 August, page 7).
