A woman complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article about the death of a London teenager had mistakenly used a picture of her son, instead of the dead youth.

The matter was resolved when the newspaper, having been contacted by the PCC, made clear that it had already accepted its serious error and had explained to the complainant how the mistake had come about. The managing editor wrote to the complainant to apologise for the distress that had been caused to her and her son. He made clear that the photograph in question had been removed from the Sun's website and would not be reprinted.
