Tom Dixon complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article about an investigation into the behaviour of a police officer which was linked, incorrectly, to his own criminal conviction.

The newspaper explained that the article was based on information received from the police but, after further checks were made by the newspaper following the complaint to the PCC, it transpired that the police statement was erroneous. The complaint was resolved through the publication of the following correction and apology:

An item in the Reading Post on September 22 reported that no further action would be taken in respect of an investigation into the behaviour of PC Anna Croft while on duty for Thames Valley Police. We would like to make it clear that contrary to information and a statement given to us by Thames Valley Police, the investigation into PC Croft was not connected to Tom Dixon's criminal trial. We would like to apologise to Mr Dixon and are happy to clarify this matter.
