Complainant Name:
A woman

Clauses Noted: 3, 11

Publication: Daily Echo (Bournemouth)

A woman complained to the Press Complaints Commission that - by revealing the address of a man who had been convicted of child abuse - the newspaper had identified the child victims of a sexual assault, as well as intruded into their private lives. She said this had caused them great distress and fear.

While the newspaper did not accept that the article was in breach of the Editors' Code, the matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated a private letter of apology to the complainant.
