Will Moy of Full Fact complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an inaccuracy in relation to the findings of a review of the legislative framework and arrangements for children with special education needs and disabilities.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction:

Special needs children

We reported, in common with several other newspapers (14 September), that Ofsted had found that schools have wrongly labelled up to 750,000 children as having ‘special education needs'. This was based on our understanding of information provided at a press briefing. To clarify, we are now advised that the true estimate was up to around 450,000.

A correction was also appended to the article online.
