Complainant Name:
Paul Golding

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Kent on Sunday

Paul Golding complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had wrongly reported that he was once expelled from the BNP for allegedly attacking a fellow councillor.

The newspaper considered that it had grounds for reporting the claim but accepted that it had not check the position with the complainant prior to publication. The complaint was resolved when the newspaper promptly removed the online article in question and made two undertakings: the first to ensure that the reference to the alleged attack and expulsion is not repeated and the second to contact the complainant in advance of any future stories relating to him.
