Complainant Name:
Michael Duckett

Clauses Noted: 3, 5

Publication: Real People

Michael Duckett complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the magazine had published a photograph of his mother's grave which he considered intrusive and insensitive as she had passed away very recently and he and his family were still grieving their loss.

The magazine explained that the article was intended to report the ways in which mourners remember their loved ones and said there was no wish to intrude into the grief of the complainant's family. It regretted the upset caused by the publication of the photograph. The complaint was resolved when the magazine provided a private letter of apology for the complainant.
