Complainant Name:
Laura McQuaid-Jones

Clauses Noted: 1, 3, 6

Publication: Daily Mail

Laura McQuaid-Jones complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published inaccuracies about her daughter and intruded into her daughter's private life in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy), Clause 3 (Privacy) and Clause 6 (Children) of the Editors' Code.

The newspaper did not accept that it had breached the Code. However, it made clear that it had never intended to cause upset to the complainant or her daughter. The matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the article online and a private letter of regret by the newspaper to the complainant.
