Complainant Name:
Alex Yellop

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Daily Telegraph

Alex Yellop complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article on the subject of solar panels which contained a number of inaccuracies relating to the way in which the panels work, the nature of the savings to homeowners, and the amount paid by the government per kilowatt of energy produced.

Prior to receiving the complaint via the PCC, the newspaper had already amended the online version of the article. The complaint was resolved in full when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction in print:

"Solar panel firms 'using dodgy sales tactics'" (June 24), concerning a Which? study, contained a transcription error. The feed-in tariff paid to householders is 43.3p per kw of energy produced, not 4.33p as we stated. We also wish to make clear that the export tariff of 3.1p is payable on top of the 43.3p feed-in tariff. We apologise for any confusion caused.
