Complainant Name:
Frank Field MP

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Guardian

Frank Field MP complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article which claimed that he had been quoted by Anders Behring Brievik in his purported manifesto, published at the time of the killings in Norway, was inaccurate and misleading.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following clarification in the newspaper, in addition to the removal of the complainant's name from the online version of the article and the publication of a similar note online:

An article in our coverage of the mass killings in Norway listed Frank Field MP among a group of people whom Anders Breivik had quoted in his purported manifesto. In fact Breivik did not highlight Mr Field specifically; he reproduced in full an article about immigration from the Daily Telegraph, which contained a quote from Mr Field. (Writer quoted by killer hits back, 26 July, page 7).
