Complainant Name:
Mr James Stocks

Clauses Noted: 1, 4

Publication: Daily Record

Mr James Stocks complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published a number of articles reporting on his career as a chef which inaccurately reported that he had never worked with chefs including Marco Pierre White; that he had been charged with stealing money; that he had left a restaurant leaving a trail of debts; and that he had been kicked out of a hotel room.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of six online articles which referred to the complainant's relationship with Mr White and the removal of the online article referring to the complainant's hotel room, and - in respect of the articles reporting that he had been charged with theft - the amendment of the text of the online articles and the addition of the following footnote:

The Daily Record would like to make clear that James Stocks was not charged or convicted of theft.
