Complainant Name:
Lord Martin of Springburn

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Mail on Sunday

Lord Martin of Springburn complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article which referred to alleged disagreements with former staff during his tenure as Speaker was inaccurate and misleading.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following text, in the newspaper and online, in addition to the newspaper marking its records for future reference:

Regarding an article on March 27 about a departure in the House of Commons Speaker's office, Lord Martin of Springburn states that no individual ever left during his tenure because he regarded them as being too posh. He also states he never had a row with a Speaker's Secretary about how he should be formally dressed. We are happy to report his position.
