Publication: The Sun

A woman complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had included a photograph of her and four friends waiting to enter a Take That concert in an article relating the drunken and illegal conduct of some concert attendees. The complainant was concerned that the publication of the photograph in this context incorrectly implied that they had behaved in that manner. They had not been made aware at the time that the photograph would be for publication in a newspaper.

The newspaper removed the photograph from its online article prior to the PCC's involvement. The Press Complaints Commission then negotiated the addition of the following statement to the article:

A previous version of this article included a photograph of five female fans. We are happy to make clear they were not involved in any of the reported incidents at the concert.
