Complainant Name:
HRH Princess Beatrice

Clauses Noted: 3

Publication: The Sun

HRH Princess Beatrice complained to the Press Complaints Commission through Harbottle & Lewis Solicitors that photographs of her on holiday in the French Riviera, which had been published in each of the newspapers, had been taken in places where she had a reasonable expectation of privacy.

The newspapers did not accept that the complainant had a reasonable expectation of privacy in the locations in which she had been photographed. However, in view of her concerns, the newspapers all agreed to remove the photographs from their websites and give an assurance that they would not be republished. The complaints were resolved on this basis.
