Complainant Name:
Elaine Deering

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Daily Telegraph

Elaine Deering complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper's website contained an article (published two years prior to her contacting the PCC) which contained a number of errors. In particular, she was concerned that the piece stated, wrongly, that she had sold her deceased brother's war medals to fund a holiday cruise and reported that her brother was engaged before he died when the complainant and her family did not accept that this was the case.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper amended the article to remove all reference the cruise and fiancée and arranged for its archives to be annotated with the complainant's concerns.
