Publication: The Guardian

Mr Yousef Bozorgmehr complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article which was misleading when it reported that Fars, an Iranian news agency, was passing off photographs from different times and locations in Britain and other parts of the world as being directly related to the UK riots. He said the Fars photo gallery to which the article referred actually made no attempt to mislead, as it was intended to be viewed as historical in nature and there was no text specifically linking these photographs to recent events; he said the main photo galleries used by Fars - which the article did not mention - clearly related to the actual riots of August 2011.

While the newspaper did not accept that there was a breach of the Editors' Code, the complaint was resolved privately between the parties.
