Clauses Noted: 1, 3, 6, 9

Publication: Daily Mail

Vanessa Clark complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article about an incident involving one of her family members that raised breaches of Clauses 1 (Accuracy), 3 (Privacy), 6 (Children) and 9 (Reporting of Crime) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The newspaper did not believe that it had breached the Code, but it expressed regret that the coverage had caused distress to the complainant and her family. The matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the article from the newspaper's website and a private letter to the complainant.
