Mr Jonathan Everett complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article reporting on the government's e-petition website was inaccurate and misleading when it stated that the two most popular petitions on the day of publication both called for the return of capital punishment.


The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the addition of the following footnote to the online article:

We have been asked to point out that there are also petitions in favour of retaining the ban on the death penalty.
