The Earl of Cardigan

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

The Earl of Cardigan complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the headline to an online article had quoted him inaccurately when it stated ‘I met my wife in rehab'. The complainant made clear that he had not used the term ‘rehab' to describe the Trauma Resolution Centre where he had met his wife.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following clarification, which was published below the text of the online article:

An earlier headline on this article may have suggested that Lord Cardigan had himself described the clinic as ‘rehab'. We are happy to clarify that this is not the case.
