Publication: Henley Standard

Mrs Sandra Blunden complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published a number of inaccuracies in its report of the inquest into her son's death.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following statement in the newspaper:

A report in the Standard on October 7 on the outcome of an inquest into the deaths of Thomas Blunden and Alex Kurzyniec wrongly stated that the car driven by Mr Blunden was turbo-charged. An accompanying photograph was inaccurately described as the crash scene. We apologise for these errors and any distress caused. We have also been asked to point out that while a key witness stated the car was travelling at between 90mph and 100mph this could not be established by the police or the coroner.
