John Hemming MP

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Guardian

John Hemming MP complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article that contained a number of inaccuracies regarding his personal relationships.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper amended the online article on one point and published the following wording in its Corrections & Clarifications column:

A comment piece about the sentencing of Christine Hemming, estranged wife of John Hemming MP, said the defendant was ordered to pay costs towards Mr Hemming and his new family. The order for £1,000 was in fact in respect of the prosecution's legal costs. (End of the ordeal for unlikeliest cat burglar, 29 October, page 7).
