Complainant Name:
Mr Elliot Morley

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Sunday Mirror

Mr Elliot Morley, the former MP, complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article which claimed that he had "landed the cushiest job in jail" contained inaccuracies.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction in the newspaper in addition to being appended to the online version of the article:

Our article of 28 August stated that former MP Elliot Morley, jailed for his role in the MPs' expenses scandal, had "landed the cushiest job in jail" as the right-hand man to the prison chaplain. In fact, Mr Morley was employed as one of four orderlies in the Focus advice centre, assisting prisoners and supporting outside advice agencies, as well as working in the Education Centre. He did not work 4 ½ hours a day as claimed but rather 8 hours a day, seven days a week.
