Publication: Daily Mail

Paul Bolding complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an online article about William Lyttle, also known as the Mole Man of Hackney, which was accompanied by a misleading photograph. The image showed a person in a network of tunnels and stated that this was Mr Lyttle when, in fact, this was a model posing for a photographer in a cave the like of which could not possibly exist in North East London.

The newspaper acknowledged the error and arranged for the picture caption to be amended to correctly state that the photograph was a mock-up. The complaint was resolved on that basis.
