Kenneth Noye complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article was inaccurate when it claimed that a stepson of his had been arrested as a suspected looter. The complainant said that he did not have a stepson.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following clarification, in the newspaper and online, in addition to the removal of the original article from the newspaper's website:

On August 16 we reported that a stepson of Kenneth Noye had been arrested as a suspected looter in the riots. Kenneth Noye states that, although he wrote to the boy's mother while in prison, he has never met or spoken to her or her son. As such, he is not the stepfather of her son and has never assumed such responsibilities for him. We are happy to make this clear.
