Mr John Beveridge of Greenbelt Group Ltd complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which reported on a court case brought by factoring company, Greenhome Property Management Ltd, against tenants who were withholding payment. The complainant was concerned that the piece contained a number of inaccurate claims.

The matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following letter:

Further to your article of August 21 (‘UK homeowners await verdict on court battle'), I would like to clarify that the case in question arose from a dispute between Greenhome and 3 households of Monifieth West Grange Estate (which has a total of 131). Greenhome is a factoring company, which provides management services for both residential and commercial properties. It does not own the land, and cannot therefore be said to hold a ‘monopoly'. Should residents wish to remove Greenhome as the factoring company, this could be achieved relatively easily. Although Greenbelt and Greenhome are sister companies, Greenbelt is not involved in the court case to which the report referred. Thank you for letting us make the position clear.

Mrs Julie Muir, Managing Director, Greenhome Property Management Ltd'
