A woman complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had made use of a tribute she had posted in a Facebook group following the death of her friend, despite her having earlier refused a reporter's request for comment on the matter.

The newspaper said that at the time complainant's quote was selected it was unaware of her earlier refusal to give comment to its reporter, and that its inclusion was coincidental. Nevertheless, the matter was resolved when the newspaper agreed to remove the quotation as a gesture of goodwill.
