Complainant Name:
Nathalie Dye

Clauses Noted: 1, 5

Publication: The Sun

Nathalie Dye complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published inaccurate and insensitive information about her late husband, Michael Dye, shortly after his death, in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) and Clause 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The newspaper considered that its coverage had related to matters of significant public interest, and it did not agree that it had breached the Code. However, it had no wish to distress the complainant, and the matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated a private letter of regret by the newspaper to the complainant for having caused her upset.
