Publication: Sunday Mirror

Mr Nick Mann from the Association of Train Operating Companies complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published various inaccuracies in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Code.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following wording:

In our leader column of 13 November concerning the Christmas disruption to rail services and train fares rising by up to 13% we stated that almost 50 engineering works would mean delays, cancellation and misery for the 22 million passengers expected to travel. We have been asked by The Association of Train Operating Companies to clarify that this did not mean that all 22 million travellers would have been affected by the engineering works as the majority of the rail network remained open.
