Complainant Name:
A married couple

Clauses Noted: 3

Publication: Wetherby News

A married couple complained to the Press Complaints Commission under the terms of Clause 3 (Privacy) about an article revealing the timing of a family holiday; their home had been burgled following publication.

The newspaper wrote privately to the complainants expressing sympathy for the stress and upset caused to the family by the incident, and making clear that following this incident it had taken steps to ensure that these details would be omitted from such stories in future. In addition, the newspaper offered an assurance that it would not publish anything further on the matter. The matter was resolved on that basis.
