Complainant Name:
Adam Corlett

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Complaint:

Mr Adam Corlett complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had incorrectly stated in an online article that the Liberal Democrats had voted to legalise cannabis and decriminalise all other personal drug use at their conference.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the article and the addition of the following statement:

An earlier version of the article stated that the Liberal Democrats voted to legalise cannabis and decriminalise all other personal drug use at their party's conference. We are happy to make clear that they voted for the government to immediately establish an independent panel which would consider, amongst other things, the costs and benefits of alternatives such as decriminalisation and legalisation of cannabis.
