A woman

Clauses Noted: 1, 6

Publication: Merthyr Express

A woman complained to the Press Complaints Commission, via solicitors, that the newspaper had published an article identifying her daughter without the appropriate consent as a child who had made a personal injury claim against her school. She also argued that the piece misrepresented the nature of the injury sustained by her daughter.

The newspaper responded substantively to the complaint by explaining the background to its coverage and setting out its position that there was no breach of the Code. The complainant was satisfied with the newspaper's reply and considered the matter resolved on the basis of this response.
