A woman

Clauses Noted: 3, 6, 9

Publication: Daily Mail

A woman complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 3 (Privacy), Clause 6 (Children), and Clause 9 (Reporting of crime) of the Editors' Code of Practice in referring to the details of a court case in relation to an incident in which she had been the victim of an assault.

The newspaper did not accept that it had breached the Code, but said that it had not intended to distress the complainant. The matter was resolved when it wrote privately to the complainant expressing regret for having done so and removed the article from its website.
