Mr Rory Hegarty, Communications Lead for the Better Services Better Value review, complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clause 1 (Accuracy) about an article which reported that ‘secret notes' had revealed cuts of £370million a year spread across four NHS hospital trusts. The complainant said that the figures were not ‘secret', but had been widely publicised, appearing in a series of press releases, public meetings, presentations and meetings with local councillors and MPs since May 2011.

The matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction:

Following our article of 7 February 2012, "secret notes reveal £370m hospital cuts", we have been asked to point out that the £370m budget cuts figure has been in the public domain since May 2011 and available across the South West London area.
