Complaint:

Miss Charlene Franklin complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clause 1 (Accuracy) that an article which claimed that she had ‘tried to kill herself over an electric bill'. The complainant said that she had made it clear to the reporter who conducted the interview that bills were just one of a number of contributing factors.

Resolution:

While the newspaper did not accept that it had acted in breach of the Editors' Code, the matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the online article.
