Ms Michelle Harvey-Gill, the sister of Lee Harvey, complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had incorrectly claimed that the knife used by Tracie Andrews to stab Lee Harvey had belonged to him in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following apology:

An interview published on April 21 reported that Tracie Andrews stabbed Lee Harvey "with his pen-knife". The pen-knife did not, in fact, belong to Mr Harvey and we are happy to clarify. We apologise for the error.
